Margaret Bessey Named Atlantic City & County Board of Realtors
Volunteer of the Year

 

Galloway, April 14, 2004 – Lloyd D. Levenson, Esquire, a senior partner at the law firm of Cooper Levenson, Attorneys at Law, has been named the Atlantic County Bar Association’s Volunteer of the Year.

Given in conjunction with United Way’s Volunteer Center of Atlantic County, the award is presented annually to a member of the legal profession for his or her volunteer contributions to the community. This year, the Atlantic City & County Board of Realtors also honored one of their own—Margaret (Peggy) Bessey, from the Prudential Fox & Roach Margate office—for outstanding community involvement.

The announcements were made at the 13th Annual Volunteer Recognition Professionals Dinner on April 14, 2004, at the Seaview Marriott Resort & Spa. Proceeds from the event, which totaled approximately $2000, benefited United Way’s Volunteer Center of Atlantic County.

Levenson served as United Way of Atlantic County’s 2003 General Campaign Chair, helping to raise more than $3.2 million to help people in need throughout our community.

“Lloyd’s philanthropic work helped to further our reach in to the community and leverage valuable resources to meet our community’s needs,” said John Emge, United Way of Atlantic County Executive Director.

Levenson’s other philanthropic and community activism includes membership on the DARE New Jersey Board of Directors, the Board of Governors for the New Jersey State Opera, the Board of Trustees for the Southern New Jersey Development Council, and the Board of Directors for United Way of Atlantic County. In 1998, he was awarded the prestigious DARE New Jersey "Future of New Jersey" award.

 

Bessey has served has co-chairperson for Prudential Fox & Roach Charities, Margate office, since 1993. She also chairs the Atlantic City & County Board of Realtors public relations committee, through which she coordinates events for local charities supported by the Board of Realtors such as Habitat for Humanity and the Children’s Seashore House. Bessey volunteers with the Longport Annual Picnic committee, the Insulin Support Fund annual telethon, the Longport Garden Club and the Atlantic City Rotary Club.

United Way’s Volunteer Center of Atlantic County promotes volunteer opportunities in Atlantic County for over 100 local, not-for-profit organizations. The Volunteer Center also supports the Atlantic County Probation Department’s court-ordered community service program.
