United Way’s Success By 6® to Host Reading Groups in Egg Harbor City

As part of an early literacy campaign, United Way of Atlantic County’s Success By 6® initiative invites Egg Harbor City children ages 3 to 6 and their parents to attend free “Winter Wonderland” reading groups. Volunteers will lead the children in stories and age-appropriate crafts from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 29 at the St. Nicholas Church, 525 St. Louis Avenue. Children who attend will also receive books, which were collected in Egg Harbor City in June, and information and activity packets courtesy of the Atlantic County Library system.

Parents must remain with their children during the reading groups.

Success By 6 welcomes community volunteers to assist with the coordination and facilitation of future reading groups. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer reading group coordinator, please contact Alice Woods, United Way of Atlantic County’s Director of Community Initiatives, at (609) 404-4483 ext. 19.

Success By 6 is a nationally-recognized, community-based private and public collaboration created by United Way that is dedicated to addressing the critical issues that face children from infancy to 6 years of age. Atlantic County’s Success By 6 is addressing five top issues affecting children in our community: age-appropriate immunizations, early literacy, pediatric dental issues, parenting skills and pre-natal care.

Success By 6 welcomes new partners and participants. For further information, contact Alice Woods, United Way of Atlantic County’s Director of Community Initiatives, at (609) 404-4483 ext. 19 or visit www.unitedwayac.org.
