"The Women's Leadership Initiative provides an excellent way for women to give back to the community while providing an opportunity to network with other women in Atlantic County,” said Women's Leadership Initiative Chair Helen Walsh. “Women are change agents and their participation in addressing key social issues is crucial in order to improve the lives of our community’s youngest members.” More than 150 women who are corporate, civic and community leaders are expected to gather to raise awareness and funds for the programs of Success By 6, the early childhood initiative of United Way of Atlantic County. Success By 6 improves the lives of our youngest citizens by partnering with individuals from all sectors of the community to create a web of services within our community to make a positive impact on the lives of children ages 0-6. Attendees are asked to bring a new book suitable for young children, which will be donated to a local early literacy project. A silent auction will be held during the event, and donated items or services are still being accepted. Items can be dropped off at the offices of United Way of Atlantic County, located in Galloway, or a pick-up can be scheduled. Sponsors of the event include the Atlantic County Utilities Authority, The Atlantic County Woman, Kramer Beverage, Borgata Heart and Soul Foundation, Harrah’s Entertainment, AtlantiCare, Glenn Insurance and Trump Entertainment.
