JOIN US AS WE OFFICIALLY KICKOFF THE 2009 UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN AT BALLY’S BIKINI BEACH BAR

Atlantic City, NJ – Community leaders and volunteers throughout Atlantic County are invited to celebrate the end of summer with a commitment to LIVE UNITED. United Way of Atlantic County will officially kickoff their 2009 Campaign with a celebration at Bally’s Bikini Beach Bar in Atlantic City, Thursday, August 27. The event will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person and include food and entertainment. A cash bar will be available.

As the need for essential services throughout the county increases, United Way of Atlantic County urges community members to “Give. Advocate. Volunteer.”, as a means to impact the four priority areas that advance the common good. Those areas include Basic Needs & Independence, Safer Homes & Neighborhoods, Community Health Issues and Mental Wellness & Reducing Substance Abuse. Currently, United Way of Atlantic County partners with 40 local health and human service agencies to provide critical funding to programs that address these needs within the community.

“Our United Way volunteers work incredibly hard to raise as much as we can each year”, said John Emge, executive director of United Way of Atlantic County. “What we need to make this year’s campaign successful, even in these difficult times, is to reach as many people in the community as possible and ask for their support – at whatever level they can. It all adds up to that big number, which we feel can be attained.”

The 2009 United Way Campaign will target workplaces throughout Atlantic County this fall. In addition, local small businesses, professionals and other individuals will participate in this community endeavor to raise $2.75 million. Chairing the annual community event is Joe Domenico, senior vice president and general manager of Bally’s Atlantic City and Caesars Atlantic City.
